Cardinal to speak in Los Angeles at Digital Hollywood on “Movies, TV, Technology & Music that Matter” panel at 3:15 p.m., and at Q&A for the Film “Falls Around Her” at 7:30 p.m. at Red Nation Film Festival

LOS ANGELES — Tantoo Cardinal, the award-winning Indigenous actress, will have two Los Angeles speaking opportunities on Tuesday, November 12. She will be speaking on her almost 50-year career in entertainment and the many Indigenous roles she’s portrayed including her starring role in “Falls Around Her.”
Cardinal is an award-winning actress of Métis/First Nations decent who can be seen on the ABC Television Network series “Stumptown” playing Sue Lynn Blackbird. A Canadian native, she has appeared in over 120 film and television projects over the course of her 48-year career. She has won the Earle Grey Award (a lifetime achievement award by the Canadian Screen Awards), is a Member of the Order of Canada and is a CBC/Playback Hall of Fame inductee.

Cardinal, who portrays Sue Lynn Blackbird on “Stumptown” and has had over 120 acting roles including Dances with Wolves, and stars in “Falls Around Her.”

Cardinal’s credits include numerous plays, television programs, and films, including: Legends of the Fall, Dances with Wolves, Black Robe, Falls Around Her, Wind River, The Corruption of the Divine, Where The Rivers Flow North, Maina, Chasing Shakespeare and Eden.

Television credits include: “SEE,” “Westworld,” “Longmire,” “Mohawk Girls,” “Frontier,” “Blackstone,” “Lonesome Dove,” “Nobody’s Girls,” “Godless” and “Penny Dreadful,” among others.

Theatre work includes playing “Gertrude in Hamlet,” Regan in the production of “King Lear” and the role of Pelajia in a production of “The Rez Sisters.”

Falls Around Her synopsis

Falls Around Her follows Mary Birchbark (Tantoo Cardinal), a legendary singer who returns to the vast wilderness of her reserve to reconnect with the land and her community. Mary begins to sense that someone might be watching her. Unsure of what is real and what is imagined, Mary embraces isolation as she explores the psychological impact of her past and present.
