Chickasaw Nation to Host Fourth Annual Photography Competition Aug. 23 -26

The Chickasaw Nation will host a 72-hour photography competition Aug. 23 through Aug. 26. After the competition, photographs will be on display Sept. 9 through Oct. 31 at the Chokma’si Gallery within the arts and humanities building in Ada.

ADA, Okla. — The Chickasaw Nation will host the fourth annual 72-hour photography competition Friday, Aug. 23, through Monday, Aug. 26.

The photo competition allows student, amateur and professional photographers from around the world the opportunity to participate in the three-category competition.

Photographers will be assigned a theme and have 72 hours to submit their interpretation of the given topic. Judges must receive submissions by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26.

Each photograph will be judged on exposure, contrast and color, focus and depth of field, framing and composition, artistry, originality and execution of the theme.

Photographers may enter two photos. Digital editing technology, such as Photoshop or Lightbox, is not permitted.

The competition is open to the public. More than $1,900 in prize money will be awarded.

The application and a $30 entry fee are due by Friday, Aug. 16.

The Chickasaw Nation will host an awards reception 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the arts and humanities building, 201 N. Broadway Ave., Ada. Photographs will be on display Sept. 9 through Oct. 31 at the Chokma’si Gallery within the arts and humanities building.
