WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump sticks to his claim his call with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky held on July 25, 2019 was a “perfect” call. He may continue to stick to his “perfect” claim as the call turns into a political perfect storm of impeachment that could end his presidency.
The telephone call may have been a tipping point for Americans. The impeachment tide has turned since the White House transcript last Wednesday and the whistleblower transcript last Thursday.
A national poll released by CBS on Sunday reveals 55 percent of Americans now think the House of Representative’s impeachment inquiry is necessary after the release of a whistleblower’s complaint says Trump abused presidential powers.
The poll numbers clearly still show the country is divided in its opinion down partisan party lines.
Some 87 percent of Democrats would approve of the impeachment inquiry in Trump. Among Republicans only 23 percent approve. Just over half of Independents, 51 percent disapprove of the inquiry.
