Deadline to Submit Public Comment on Keystone XL Pipeline Today at 5 p.m.

WASHINGTON — Today is the deadline to make sure your voice is heard by the US State Department.
This is your last chance to give a public comment on the Keystone XL pipeline.

The recent environmental study failed to properly address the impact the KXL pipeline would have on the many tribal communities along its proposed route. These tribal nations have been vocal about their objection to the dirty tar sands project but President Trump and the State Department want to fast track approval.

Climate chaos is already affecting tribal communities along the proposed route and for tribal nations like the Fort Peck Assiniboine Sioux in Montana and Rosebud Sioux in South Dakota the first spill would mean their fresh water would be wiped out.

Just last month, TC Energy’s Keystone 1 pipeline leaked over 350 thousand gallons of tar sands oil in North Dakota, making this the fourth major spill on this pipeline.

Given the most recent pipeline spill in North Dakota, it is obvious that we cannot allow TC Energy, formerly TransCanada, to build a dirty oil project that severely threatens the pristine waters of the Ogallala Aquifer that rests beneath the territories of the Oceti Sakowin people.
