SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M.The Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation announced today it has been awarded a three-year grant of $2.25 million from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to support Native American children’s health in New Mexico.
Specifically, this operating grant enables the organization to advance its mission of ensuring Native children achieve their full potential by advancing cultures of Native American community health.
With this funding, the NB3 Foundation will work to support Native community-driven prevention models addressing Native children’s health, engage tribes and Native-led organizations in policy/systems/environmental (PSE) changes, strengthen and learn from Indigenous-centered evaluation methodologies, and build our long-term internal capacity.
“We are honored to continue to receive support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. We look forward to further ensuring Native American children in New Mexico and beyond achieve success and live out their full potential. Our work is not possible without key partners like the W.K. Kellogg Foundation,” NB3 Foundation President and CEO, Justin Huenemann said.
With this support, the Foundation looks to leverage financial support for its own work and that of its community partners (grantees) and increase knowledge products and capacity building tools that improve Native children’s health and build supportive community systems.
“We are proud to support the Notah Begay III Foundation, an organization that utilizes indigenous-rooted approaches to strengthen and empower Native communities benefitting children’s health,” said Frank R. López, director of New Mexico programs at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
