WASHINGTON — The House Judiciary Committee on Friday morning voted to impeach Donald J. Trump, the 45th president of the United States, on two articles of impeachment. The vote came Friday morning by 10:12 a.m. The vote was totally down party-lines with the Democrats voting 23 to 17 by Republicans to impeach Trump.

“Today is a solemn and sad day,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) said. “For the third time in a little over a century and a half, the House Judiciary Committee has voted articles of impeachment against the president — for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.”

Soon after the House Judiciary Committee voted to impeach Trump, the White House issued this the following statement: “This desperate charade of an impeachment inquiry in the House Judiciary Committee has reached its shameful end. The President looks forward to receiving in the Senate the fair treatment and due process which continues to be disgracefully denied to him by the House.”

The full House of Representatives are due to vote on the two article of impeachment next Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
